Welcome!

Hello! My name is Officer or Sheriff | NAME HERE with the DEPT HERE. I would like to welcome you to the Los Santos Policing Dept. Being a Policing Officer for Los Santos is a Huge Honor, but it comes with a lot of Responsibility! You will be trained by the best FTO's we have to offer & i hope you enjoy your experience with us. I also hope that you learn a lot about yourself from this experience. Stay Safe & i will see you on the streets.

After having your application accepted for LSPD we will begin your training along with other Cadets. LSPD will be doing training when there are enough Cadets to do so.
STAGES 2-4 WILL BE CONDUCTED IN THE BRIEFING ROOM INSIDE LSPD!

Stage 1: Learning the Department

  • In this stage the Cadets will be taught about LSPD. They will be shown locations that let LSPD officers do their job (Locker Room, Armory, Briefing Room, Jail Cells, Helipad, & Sally Port). The Cadets will also be shown how to use these locations.

Stage 2: Learning the LAW!

  • In this stage the Cadets will be taught about the law that keeps Los Santos Safe. The Cadets will be shown where to find the Laws. After this Stage is finished the Cadets will be quizzed over what they learned. The Cadets Must achieve an 80% or Higher. The Cadets also have 3 chances to pass the quiz & are not timed.

Stage 3: Learning the Codes

  • In this stage the Cadets will be taught about the 10-Codes LSPD uses to Communicate. They will be shown where to find the Codes. They will also be taught how to use the radio correctly. After this stage is finished the cadets will be quizzed over what they learned. The Cadets must achieve an 80% or Higher to pass. The Cadets also have 3 chances to pass the quiz & are not timed.

Stage 4: Learning the Commands

  • In this stage the Cadets will be taught the commands they will be using while working for the LSPD. (Cuffing, Dragging, Placing/Taking out Car, Searching, Etc)

Stage 5: Learning the Gear

  • In this stage the Cadets will be taken to the Armory. There they will be taught what gear to grab. The Cadets will be taught how to switch between the gear & will be taught about the /me feature when it comes to the long guns.

Stage 6: Learning the Patrol Car

  • In this stage the Cadets will be taken to the Parking Lot of LSPD & shown vehicle's the LSPD use on a daily basis. They will be shown the vehicle they will be using during the training & they will be taught how to use the vehicle's during this stage (Starting/Stopping the Engine, Cruise Control, Lock/Unlocking Doors, Etc).

Stage 7: Learning to Drive

  • In this stage the Cadets will be taken to the LS Airport where they will take the Driving Course. The Cadets get 3 attempts to pass the Driving Test. The test will be based on Points. A minimum of 80 points out of 100 points need to be obtained to pass the test. Every time a cone is hit 5 points will be deducted from the Cadets score.

Stage 8: The Traffic Stop

  • In this stage the Cadets will be taught how to conduct a Traffic Stop & Felony Stop.

Stage 9: The Pursuit

  • In this stage the Cadets will be taught the basics of Pursuits. They will also be taught the significance of the P.I.T Maneuver & how/when to use Spike Strips. And lastly the Communication during Pursuits.

After the Cadet has passed the final vehicle exam they will be transported back to LSPD into the briefing room for the final written exam.

Stage 11: Graduation!

  • During this stage the Cadets that have passed will be promoted to Officer & they will be issued a Unit Number. They will also be allowed to Patrol the streets of Los Santos after Graduation.

The Traffic Stop is an essential part in keeping the people of Los Santos safe. The majority of an officer's time will be conducting Traffic Stops. Traffic Stops can also be very deadly. NEVER EXPECT ANY TRAFFIC STOP TO BE ROUTINE!!! The Officer never know who they are pulling over. It is imperative that our Officers know how to conduct themselves during a Traffic Stop. Policing Officers are the face of LSPD & you are representing yourself & LSPD. There are a variety of questions to ask yourself on a Traffic stop:

  • Questions:
    • Notice what vehicle you are pulling over. Are there any dents, scratches, &/or bullet holes?
    • How many people are in the vehicle? What are they doing? Are they moving around a lot? If they are should you get another unit on the way?
    • How long does it take this vehicle to stop? Why is it taking so long for them to stop? Do they stop? What if they bail on foot & who do you go after the driver or their passengers? What if they jump out & approach your cruiser? What if they jump our & start shooting? What are you going to do?

Ask yourself those questions before you initiate a Traffic Stop, that way you already have a plan if something should happen. Now we are going to learn how to initiate a Traffic Stop. Lets say a Silver Buffalo with license plate KAD523 did not stop at a stop light on Alta Street Cross of Vespucci Boulevard at around 5:45pm. It is important to know military time as Dispatch will be using it. First thing you will want to do is get in behind the vehicle & find a suitable place to stop the vehicle. After you have found the place to pull over the vehicle Activate your over head lights by using the “Q" Key. Then you will honk your horn using the “E" Key. Upon the vehicle pulling over you will put your car so that your front right headlight is even with their rear left taillight. You will then call into Dispatch. For training purposes we will be using the Unit # 1M-51. The transmission should look like:

  • “1M-51 to Control"
    (Control) “1M-51 Go Ahead"
  • “1M-51 I got a 10-33 at Alta Street Cross of Vespucci Boulevard Postal 3217, on a Silver Buffalo license plate KAD523, occupied x1 no 10-28's requested"
    (Control) “10-4 1M-51, 10-33, 17:45"

After Dispatch says 10-4 you can exit your Patrol car & proceed with the Traffic Stop. Upon walking up to the vehicle introduce yourself to the driver. You can use the following phrase:

  • “Good Evening. I'm Officer ____ with the Los Santos Police Department. Do you know why i stopped you today?"

After you tell them what they are stopped for ask for their Drivers License, Registration & proof of Insurance. Then return to your cruiser & run that persons information. At this point you have discretion on what to do. You can write a Ticket to the individual for the violation or give them a Warning. You will be taught by FTO's on field day on how to write citations & where to find the fines/punishments. After you write the citation return to the vehicle & give them their information back. Let them know what you decided to do & tell them are are free to go. Then return to your cruiser & radio Dispatch that you are back in-service. The radio traffic should look like:

  • “1M-51 to Control"
    (Control) “1M-51 Go Ahead"
  • “1M-51, 10-8 off of my 10-33"
    (Control) “10-4 1M-51, 10-8 17:55"

After your Traffic Stop you can shut off your Emergency lights & proceed into traffic.

Lets say that when an Officer pulled over a Civilian & ran the individuals name through NCIC & it came back with a current Warrant (Lets says the Warrant was for Murder). Instead of walking back up to the vehicle the officer is going to do what's called a Felony Stop. The first thing to do is radio to Dispatch that he/she has a Felony Suspect & needs an additional for a Felony Stop. The Radio transmission should look like this

  • “1M-51 to Control"
    (Control) “1M-51 Go Ahead"
  • “1M-51 I need a Couple 10-28's to my Location for a 10-29 Subject"
(Control) “10-4 1M-51, *Dispatches other units"

Let's say that you get the call to respond to the Felony Stop. You will respond Code 2 unless the Situation escalates such as, the Driver takes off, the Occupants exit the vehicle, the Officer asks you to step it up or Dispatch asks you to step up your response. When you arrive on scene you will park you car behind the suspects at a 45 degree angle next to the Primary Officers vehicle. You will open your door & pull out your lethal weapon (use common sense). DON'T TAKE A TASER TO A GUNFIGHT. The Primary Officer will begin to issue orders to the Suspects inside the vehicle. Start with the Driver then go to the Passengers. The dialogue will go something like:

  • “Occupants of the Silver Buffalo put your hands up."
  • “Driver using your right hand turn the vehicle off & throw the keys out the window."
*Driver throws keys out the Window*
  • “Driver using your right hand open the door on the outside, keeping your left hand in the air."
*Driver opens door & steps out*
  • “Driver turn around & face away from me, with your hands in the air walk backwards to the sound of my voice"
*Driver Walks backwards to the location the Officer wants him at*
  • “Driver Stop!"
*Driver is handcuffed & put in the back of the Patrol Car*

The Primary Officer should direct the driver & left rear passenger to the Officer to the left of him while directing the front passenger & rear right passenger to either him or the Officer to the right of him. Always do one occupant at a time & place them in the back of a Patrol Car before moving onto the next occupant. If there are multiple occupants & one of the occupants take off running, radio another unit to catch them but keep an eye on the suspect vehicle & continue until all occupants are out. Then walk up to the car & clear it.

After the vehicle is cleared radio into Dispatch & let them know. Radio chatter should look like:

  • “1M-51 to Control"
